The summer residence of the kings of Romania.

From the parking lot, you walk along a cobblestone road and can easily imagine how carriages used to clatter towards the castle. Castelul Peleș rises very impressively on a hill and is enthroned between large “Black Forest fir trees”. This castle aims to impress and has certainly provided an appropriate setting for many celebrations.

Splendor is the trump card, and the promise of the façades with their many details is continued inside without restriction. Dark, richly decorated and carved wood on the walls and even ceilings dominates the rooms. However, the correspondingly expansive chandeliers and candlesticks make it sparkle everywhere.

Conclusion: We arrived relatively late, just before the last tour closed, it was still quite full, but okay. We couldn’t get all the way up into the towers, but the rooms we could see were also very impressive. In the summer months it is certainly very busy – but I think this historically very valuable castle should definitely be visited. Even if it is a bit ostentatious, it is beautiful. Without people, I (Regine) could certainly let off steam with my camera for weeks 😁 But I could do the same in Castelul Bran. 🤗
