Good evening (almost good night) from Güns, Hungary.

We hope you enjoyed our first blog post 🙂
The plan for day 2 was to leave the Czech Republic and hike through the Johannesbachklamm gorge in Würflach in Austria. So we didn’t dawdle too long, saddled up the Vitara at 8 a.m. and set off into the Czech toll pleasure at a fresh 19°C 😀 Nothing could happen to us this time, as we bought a fresh vignette yesterday. *chaka*

However, what we suspected was confirmed – we didn’t see a single toll road today *shoulder shrug* Instead, we saw wonderful landscapes in great road trip quality.
In total, we actually only had 316 km to the Johannesbachklamm gorge ahead of us today, but it took us a really long time. No wonder with all the hairpin bends, 15% gradients, slopes, bends and hairpin bends that we can hardly count. It was just great. Unfortunately, and we experience this every day in this landscape, the human eye can capture much more than a cell phone camera. So much of what impresses us so much is lost.

Around 4:30 pm (yes, Marco drove 30 minutes out 😀 ) we arrived at the parking lot of the gorge, made our way through a narrow forest path and stood at a parking lot again. Um…. that wasn’t the entrance to the gorge? Okay…. So we continued towards the hikers, who were coming from the left. There, a first bridge with sensors for counting visitors. Shouldn’t there be a river or something similar here? There was a dried-up stream bed with lots of small and large boulders – but no or hardly any water. A little disappointed at first, we followed the path further and still got a nice impression of the gorge. Even if the whole thing would have been much more fascinating with more water.

In the end, we turned back and had just under 5 km on our smartwatch. Now it was back to looking for accommodation and finding something to eat. Preferably both in Hungary. That didn’t quite work out – we still had pizza in Austria. After all, our accommodation is right behind the border, the crossing of which was once again completely unspectacular 😀
Unfortunately, we had some problems with the track recording on the way and hardly any reception in the Johannesbachklamm gorge – Marco is still working on a solution as I write this *thumbs up*

Conclusion: In terms of scenery, the route from the Czech Republic to Lower Austria was a dream. Apart from the technical problems, we were very satisfied with the second day – but you really underestimate the time when you’re traveling at such a wonderfully slow pace. But in the end we arrived and saw what we wanted.
