Good evening from Băile Herculane 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

Why is it so late for us every day? We got up early, were on the road early, had no traffic jams, hardly any delays at the Hungarian-Romanian border and the distance wasn’t that long in terms of kilometers. Are we watching too much? At least it was enough for me (Regine) to burn the back of my neck 😶 And the further we got into Romania, the denser the forests and higher the mountains, the more often we stopped and were glad to be back.

At first we were accompanied by large fields of sunflowers next to the highway – and again the tiresome toll issue – the information via Google is not clear, so we preferred to buy a vignette for 10 days. We still have a little while to go. We drove about 90 km on the highway and then slowly headed more and more into the mountains. We climbed up to (almost) 1000 meters in altitude – of course Marco unpacked the copter there and took aerial photos – a dream.

Further down on one of the main roads there were a lot of trucks on the road, working their way up and down the bends, sometimes in two lanes and with wild overtaking maneuvers – aiaiai…. 😬

Fortunately, our accommodation is a little way from the immense tourist hotspot of Herkulesbad – there was a big party going on there. Thanks to a tip from our landlady, we managed to get something to eat around the corner from a very nice, German-speaking innkeeper – not a matter of course at 21:30. We got chips (he called them “potatoes”), chicken breast (“grill”) and gherkins (“salad”) and were completely satisfied. We were even allowed to pay in euros!

Tomorrow is a very special highlight for us, camping in the wild 😍 We probably won’t have an internet connection there, so you might have to do without us for an evening – but we’ll see! 😏😎

Conclusion: It’s sooooo nice to be here again, although we haven’t seen much “special” yet – but we’ve met such friendly people again, including a Romanian parking lot attendant who knows Minden because he’s a big handball fan.
