Good evening from Bjelovar.

Every country that we have traveled to or through so far has its very own charm. The respective landscape, the building culture and the people change sometimes only slightly, sometimes quite noticeably and in some cases immediately after crossing the border. One thing that is noticeable across Hungary, Romania, Serbia and, so far, Croatia, is how few airplanes cross the sky. You can hardly see any contrails, at least not in the areas where we were traveling. For my photographic eye, contrails are a nice contrast in some situations, but in such untouched nature, the “bare” sky further emphasizes the engaging impression.

The route from Orșova along the Danube via the Iron Gate with “Decebalus” (a sculpture of a local king on a rock formation by the river) towards the Serbian border was our highlight today in perfect weather. There are plenty of spots here for photo enthusiasts to take great pictures and, as early as we were, it was still nice and quiet.

Our border controls with both Serbia and Croatia came quite unexpectedly and suddenly. They were also uncomplicated and after a short check we were waved through both times in a friendly manner.

After some Croatian refreshments, we set off after the sun towards our accommodation for the night.

Conclusion: Serbia and Croatia are pretty flat at first, not for my two off-roaders 😉 The Iron Gate was impressive, and driving alongside the Danube with a foreign country and its border on the other side leaves a lasting impression.
