“How did you two end up deciding to go all the way to the back of beyond – to Romania?”
That was pretty much the most common reaction and question when we told people that we wanted to go on vacation to Romania.
We hadn’t had Romania and the Balkan region on our radar either until Marco was persuaded by a mutual friend (best wishes to the chicken) to drive the Carbage Run with him. A rally over hill and dale in old cars with a lot of fun.
This particular trip was called “Romania” and took place in early July – and yes, it went right through Romania. The very first pictures Marco (and I, Regine) sent back home left me speechless – and more than a little jealous. Remote routes through breathtaking landscapes… how badly I wished I had been there.
When Marco came back, still absolutely blown away, we scrapped all other travel plans on the spot, booked flights and a rental car, mapped out a route – and set off in mid-September to explore Romania for ourselves.
A plan that was absolutely worth it – see for yourself what we experienced in 8 days in Romania.
We apologize at this point for the enormous amount of pictures that await you in the posts – it was not possible for us to choose less. For us, every single picture is part of the journey and the story we want to tell you 🙂
